This Wall Element will explain how our skin is the location of the sense of touch which we use to determine the roughness, smoothness, hardness, softness, or different shapes of objects.  It also tells children we use touch to determine different textures and temperatures of objects by how they feel to the human touch.  Children will be asked to identify things that can be or cannot be identified by our sense of touch.  We also teach children how to protect their sense of touch by, for example, wearing gloves when they are handling corrosive liquids.
