1-5 Add & Subtract Learning Beehive

The 1 to 5 Beehive Learning Board contains numerous hexagonal pieces which are marked with either a number from 1 to 5, an image of 1 to 5 flowers or mathematical operation symbol such as +1, -1, +2, and -2. Children can pick pieces up at random and place these in a line or arrange them in patterns on the beehive baseboard. They can match pieces collecting similar patterns or colours together. But the pieces can also be used in a maths game where a line forms a calculation. This can be done by an individual child or in small groups of children playing together. Because there are operational pieces, simple calculations can take place as part of this game such as 1, +1 = 2, +3 = 5, -2 = 3 and so on. And because the numbers are limited to the numbers up to 5, the game is ideal for toddlers and children getting to grips with counting, quantity, basic addition and subtraction.
